The job post specifically states: “At the heart of EA SPORTS is the FC franchise. EA SPORTS FC is the world‘s 1 best-selling video game with over 200M engaged players across multiple platforms, including console, PC, and mobile.” With FC 25 Coins just having recently come out, and the huge sales FC has already done in previous installments, it‘s no surprise the video game series has more than 200m engaged players.
The FC video game series has always been a juggernaut for EA, garnering millions of sales with each new game - and that‘s not even including the amount it makes off of microtransactions and subscriptions. Currently, it seems as though EA is looking into changing the name of the FC video game series, so it'll be interesting to see if this has any effect at all on FC 25 Ultimate Teamure sales.
The FC video game franchise has an installment just about every year, so the number of sales for FC is, on one hand, not too surprising. Still, most of that surprise comes from the recently mixed discourse around FC. Even though each installment has been garnering fairly decent reviews, at least over on Metacritic, each installment has also been bombarded with negative reviews from the fans.
Even still, FC finds itself selling millions of copies, seemingly without any issues. On top of that, players that aren‘t rushing out to purchase the newest FC installment are still actively playing the previous ones. 200m engaged players is a massive amount of people, especially for just one video game franchise. It‘s unclear how the engaged players metric was measured, seeing as the job post didn‘t mention if these stats nor did it mention how many copies of the FC video game series has sold. Still, if this job posting is to be believed, it doesn‘t appear as though the FC franchise is stopping anytime soon.
